LA NAZIONALE INGLESE RINGIOVANISCE L’ORGANICO PER IL CAMPIONATO EUROPEO
Mark Downes e Mark Addy, Commissari tecnici della nazionale inglese seniores di pesca al colpo, hanno annunciato la loro squadra per competere nel 19° Campionato Europeo che quest’anno si svolgerà a Novisad, in Serbia sul fiume Danubio nel periodo 24-30 Giugno.
Dopo la vittoria della medaglia d’argento nell’europeo dello scorso anno in Spagna, dove l’oro ando alla squadra azzurra degli italiani, Mark Downes e Mark Addy hanno deciso di ringiovanire un pò l’organico anche come investimento per il futuro.
Fanno un passo indietro Steve Gardener e Steve Hemmingray. Essi sono sostituiti da Lee Kerry, che ha già rappresentato il proprio paese a livello giovanile e da Callum Dicks, un giovane molto promettente che pesca nella squadra dei Daiwa Dorking e può fregiarsi del titolo di campione del mondo con la nazionale giovanile.
Essi saranno in competizione con Will Raison, ex campione europeo e mondiale, Alan Scotthorne, 5 volte Campione del Mondo, Sean Ashby, 2012 Campione del Mondo e Des Shipp, probabilmente in questo momento, uno dei più forti pescatori nel Regno Unito.
Mark Downes, manager del Drennan Team England ha detto: “Le nuove leve aggiunte alla squadra sono persone di grande talento. Ci vuole tempo per maturare una vera e propria esperienza internazionale, e credo che entrambi questi ragazzi abbiano i requisiti per adattarsi al compito egregiamente. Entrambi hanno già avuto esperienza internazionale, sia a livello di mondiali giovanili e Club, e quindi non possono che far bene”.
Dick Clegg, OBE, responsabile degli Eventi Internazionali ha dichiarato: “Mi congratulo con la decisione assunta dalla direzione tecnica dell’Inghilterra nell’introdurre nuova linfa alla squadra che parteciperà al Campionato Europeo. D’altra parte è difficile cambiare le pedine di una squadra vincente”.
“Questo evento europeo è diventato quasi l’unico concorso che può essere usato per dare ai pescatori la possibilità di migliorare la loro classifica e auguro loro la miglior fortuna in Serbia”.
Mark Downes and Mark Addy, Joint Drennan Team England Managers, have announced their England squad to compete in this year’s 19th Coarse Angling European Championship in Novisad, Serbia on the Danube canal from 24th – 30th June.
Following last year’s European silver medal win in Spain, Mark Downes and Mark Addy have decided to give some ‘Young Blood’ a chance to establish themselves.
Stepping down this year for the European Championship are Steve Gardener and Steve Hemmingray. They are replaced by Barnsley’s Lee Kerry, who has already represented his country at Youth level and Bristol’s Callum Dicks, a regular in the successful Dorking squad, and a former Youth World Champion.
They will be competing with Will Raison, Former European and World Champion, Alan Scotthorne, 5 times World Champion, Sean Ashby, 2012 World Champion and Des Shipp, probably at this moment in time, one of the strongest anglers in the UK.
Mark Downes, Joint Drennan Team England Manager said, “ The new additions to the team are extremely talented individuals. It does take time to mature into a fully fledged International, and I believe both of these lads will adapt to the task admirably. Both have already had International experience both at Youth and World Clubs level, and they will fit in nicely”.
Dick Clegg, OBE, International Events Manager for the Angling Trust stated “I applaud the decision of the England management in introducing new blood to the European Championship team. Since the demise of both the Home Championships and the Six Nations it has become very difficult to change such a successful team”.
“This European event has become almost the only competition that can be used to give potential anglers the chance to enhance their standings and I wish them the best of luck in Serbia”.
